Background & Education Born in 1987 to Turkish parents in the Netherlands, Meltem later moved to the U.S. She earned a B.A. in Mathematical Economics from Rice University and an MBA from MIT’s Sloan School of Management
Career Path Starting in treasury (ExxonMobil) and consulting (Deloitte), she pivoted into crypto in 2015, joining Digital Currency Group (DCG) as VP of Development. At DCG she expanded its portfolio from ~40 to 200 companies. She then served as Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) at CoinShares, managing multi‑billion-dollar asset portfolios

Stacks Foundation Role
Meltem is a board member of the Stacks Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to building a user-owned internet on top of Bitcoin via the Stacks protocol.
She joined in March 2021 and advises on token economics, DeFi, NFTs, and long-term ecosystem strategy . In her words:
